Karen Brammer, Photographer.

  • Hi my name is Karen, welcome to my website. I am a Qualified Photographer with the Guild of Professional Photographers. I hold the qualification known as the QGPP with the Guild of Professional Photographers. As a qualified photographer with the Guild of Professional Photographers, you can be assured of high professional standards of skill and craftsmanship.

For me, a photographer is an artist, creating images using a camera as their paint brush. I take great pleasure in the actual craft of photography and work hard to capture the image in the camera using light and filters as well as a range of different styles of lenses. I use both digital and film cameras.

I specialise in Sport, event, family/lifestyle, macro, product, landscape, press, natural light and gritty portraiture photography.

I also like to use software to create digital artwork from my images. Currently my artwork is used for personal limited edition commissions, advertising, and marketing and promotional materials. I am very versatile in what I can create and am competent in using Adobe Photoshop CC, Lightroom, and Affinity Photo.

I have had to adapt to major life changes due to significant chronic health conditions and life now in a wheelchair. I find the images I take and create, help me cope with a lot of the symptoms these conditions present and give me something different to focus on.

This year I have entered the National competition, Image of the Month (IOM) which runs for 10 months of the year with the Guild of Photographers. I have won several National awards for my photography as a result seeing me acheive 19 Bronze Bars, 1 Silver Bar and 1 Gold Bar. I have also just become a finalist in the International Competition Image of the Year (IOTY) making the final 12 images from 13,000 entries over the past 12 months. The results will be announced in February 2018.
